Harrogate Suit Hire (HSH) was established in 2008 by Harrogate resident Richard Hughes.
Richard manages and runs HSH alongside his other business, Pannal Dry Cleaners, from premises which are ideally situated in Pannal on the main A61 Harrogate/Leeds Road, just outside Harrogate town centre, where customers can enjoy free parking and easy access.
Excellent customer service and a quality product are the cornerstones of the HSH experience.
Whatever your event and however small or large your party, we will do our very best to make you look and feel your very best.
From our showroom in Pannal we are able to offer customers probably the largest range of gentleman’s suit hire (formal and informal, traditional and contemporary) anywhere in the County.
With the addition of our most recent range we can now also offer some suits and accessories for you to purchase.
Richard is ably assisted by his wife Trisha, Manageress Sue and Assistant Hayley.
We offer package prices and individual item prices.
Our package price includes jacket, trousers, waistcoat, shirt with cufflinks, neckwear, hanky and accidental damage insurance
DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE for parties of 6 or more
Richard has many years’ experience in the tailoring industry and prides himself in providing a truly personal, knowledgeable and customer focussed service

When should we plan to come in to look at wedding suits?
We recommend you come in around 6 months before the wedding. June, July, August and September are very busy months so if you are planning your wedding for those months, we recommend you come in around 8 months beforehand as stocks do run low during the peak season.
If you leave it to the last minute during peak season there is a risk your choice of garments and/or sizes may not be available
Once you have made your garment selection, the rest of your party can make an appointment to come in at their leisure. We need to have everybody’s measurements confirmed ONE MONTH before the wedding
How much notice do you need for an individual suit hire?
If we have your choice of garment and sizes in our stock we can usually sort you out same or next day.
However, we do not carry every style and size in our stock so it is much better to give us a week (7 working days) so that if we need to order in from our suppliers we have time to do that.
During Prom and Ascot season we ideally need 2 weeks notice
Do I need to make an appointment to come
and look at suits?
Ideally, yes. For your first look we like to spend up to an hour (depending upon the event) trying different styles and colours on you.
We want to make the whole experience as pleasant and stress free as possible and making an appointment means we can allocate sufficient time to achieve this.
Think of your first visit as a consultation, particularly if planning your wedding outfits.
Saturday’s are strictly by appointment only
Who should come to the first appointment (wedding hire)?
For wedding hire we like to suggest you and one or maximum two other people only (for example either your fiancé, best man, father, brother, mother).
We discourage large numbers at the first appointment.
You need to decide what YOU want to wear first, the rest of the party can then come in at their leisure to be measured
What do I need to bring to the first appointment
If a wedding party, it is helpful to have an idea of any colours you would like to match waistcoats, ties and hankies to so we ask you to bring colour swatches. If you haven’t decided on your colours this isn’t a problem as we can always confirm the actual colours later on.
Please do come ready to try on suits, ie wearing a shirt and wearing the style of shoes you are likely to be wearing during the event
What happens at the first appointment?
Depending upon the event, we will spend up to an hour (or longer if required) trying on different styles, combinations and colours on you so you can get a good idea of our full range. We will take your measurements and, if present, the measurements of any other party member who has come along with you, eg best man, father, brother. Please do not bring everybody with you on the first appointment. We just need to see you and one, max 2 other people.
If you do not wish to place an order there and then, we will email a quotation out to you within 3 working days of your first appointment.
If you wish to place an order:-
Wedding parties – we require a £200 deposit or payment in full if preferred
Individual hires – we require payment in full on placing the order
Is the deposit refundable?
If you cancel your order within 48 hours of placing it, a full refund will be given of all monies paid, including the deposit. If you cancel after 48 hours of placing an order, the £200 deposit WILL NOT be refunded.
What if I or any member of the party put on or lose weight after I’ve placed the order?
You must notify us and come in to be re-measured
NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR EVENT
Do you hire garments for children?
On most suit styles, but not all. Our children’s sizes start at a 22inch chest.
We are not able to provide jackets in all styles so please check availability before you place your order.
When do you measure children?
We recommend that any children are measured one month before the event date to accommodate growth.
What does the “Package” price cover?
The “Package” price includes jacket, trousers, waistcoat, shirt with cufflinks, tie/cravat, hanky and accidental damage insurance. Shoes, top hats, gloves and canes can be hired or purchased at an additional cost”
What if I don’t need the full package?
You can hire individual garments each priced separately. Accidental Damage Insurance will be added separately at the current rate.
Please Note we do not hire ties/cravats & hankies only or waistcoats only.
Why do I need insurance?
The Accidental Damage Waiver insurance covers you for any accidental damage to garments. It does not cover for loss, theft or malicious damage.
When do I have to pay the balance?
You can pay the balance at any time but no later than one month before your event. If you prefer, you can pay the whole amount when you confirm your booking.
Once I’ve confirmed my order, can I make changes without being charged extra?
Yes, providing you confirm any changes before your garments come into the shop for collection (usually one week before your event).
Any changes made after your garments have come into the shop will have to be charged for.
Are there any other costs?
The only other requirement is a refundable cash bond which will be required when you pick up your garments.
This will be between £30 and £100 depending upon your event. Currently the range is £30 for a 2 piece suit hire (individual), £50 for a full package hire (individual) or £100 for a wedding party. Please note these rates are subject to change at the owner’s discretion.
What happens if we want ties/cravats & hankies in a colour or colours
you don’t stock?
We can make ties/cravats & hankies in your own material for an additional charge.
Not all my wedding party are local. How can you look after them?
We are very experienced in what we call “distance hire”. We have looked after grooms-men attending weddings from America, Australia, the Emirates, Europe and just about everywhere else. We will provide you with a Measurement Form which members of your party can email back to us with their measurements. If they need any help understanding what we need, they just need to email or call
